Cicadas in Tennessee

In Tennessee, the annual cicadas come out in summer every year. The state also has 13- and 17-year periodical cicadas. The annuals are larger and greener than the periodicals, with more orange-red tones. Brood X belonging to the 17-year type, is the biggest brood in Tennessee. They emerge from early May to early June when the ground temperature reaches 64 degrees and are gone by the end of June. The adults have a lifespan of 6 weeks.
