Cicadas in Maine
Maine doesn’t have any periodical cicada. Only annual or dog-day cicadas live in the state, appearing in late July and August. The strong fliers sing from high up the trees. So it is highly unlikely for a person to come across one. But it is very easy to hear their loud songs on summer days. They remain underground for 2-5 years before emerging.
