Cicadas in Kentucky
Kentucky is home to both annual and periodical cicadas. Periodicals emerge in spring while the annual cicadas come out in mid to late summer. 15 broods including brood X have been seen in the state. They love hanging out by large creeks, rivers, and streams and screech their love songs from the tops of trees. They stick around for around a month post-emergence.
