Cicadas in Oregon
Oregon has around 32 species of annual cicadas belonging to the genus Okanagana, Neoplatypedia, or Platypedia. The Okangana species living near Portland metro area are the most common. Oregon cicadas’ buzzing sounds are less noisy than those found in other parts of the country. They are also smaller and emerge in lower densities.
