Dragonflies in North Dakota
Around 40 species of dragonflies inhabit North Dakota. They all have different times of emerging in the course of a year. There are times when you see them appearing in large swarms. However, they are no cause of concern as they do no harm to humans. On the contrary, they do a lot of good by gobbling up notorious pests like mosquitoes and bugs. When they are hunting mosquitoes, you can see them skimming over the water surface of lakes, ponds, and rivers with their legs in a basket shape.
