Dragonflies in Kansas

Kansas is home to over 80 species of dragonflies. These include mainly darners, petaltails, clubtails, spiketails, cruisers, emeralds, and skimmers. Late summer is the best time to watch the skimmers that showcase perch and hunt behaviors. The beautiful insects inhabit areas around ponds. In general, the whole of summer is the best time of the year to catch these fascinating insects in action.
